About
Mariah Jacobsen, LMHC, is a dedicated and compassionate therapist specializing in trauma-informed care. She earned her Bachelor’s in Forensic Psychology and her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bay Path University, where she also completed certification in Trauma-Informed Therapy. Mariah is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapeutic approach that helps alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories by facilitating the brain’s natural healing processes.
Mariah’s professional experience spans correctional facilities and educational environments, where she developed strong skills in supporting individuals facing a range of emotional and behavioral challenges. She utilizes play therapy and other expressive modalities to help children and adolescents address trauma-related disorders, behavioral difficulties, autism, anxiety, depression, and intellectual and developmental challenges.
Committed to inclusivity, Mariah also provides affirming and supportive therapy for LGBTQ+ individuals, addressing issues related to identity, relationships, and societal pressures. Her approach centers on building a safe, non-judgmental environment where healing and growth can thrive. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change, emphasizing trust, empathy, and collaboration. Passionate about empowering children and teens who have experienced trauma, Mariah helps them reclaim their sense of safety, strengthen resilience, and build a hopeful path forward.
