About
Kimberly Mossman, LICSW, Ed.S, is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor™, and Certified Synergetic Play Therapist with extensive expertise in the effects of trauma on children and families. As the founder and proprietor of the Mossman Play Therapy Center, Kimberly has built a practice dedicated to providing developmentally appropriate, evidence-based therapeutic care to young clients and their caregivers.
Kimberly earned her undergraduate degree from Stonehill College, a Master’s in Social Work from Bridgewater State University, and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S) degree with a concentration in Play Therapy from the University of Mississippi. Her educational background and clinical training reflect a lifelong dedication to understanding the therapeutic power of play in promoting healing and resilience.
Prior to founding the Mossman Play Therapy Center in 2014, Kimberly worked in the Family Protection Unit at the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and in local domestic violence centers and community mental health agencies. There, she provided therapy and advocacy for children and families impacted by violence and trauma. Through these experiences, she developed and led community-wide trainings throughout Plymouth County on the effects of trauma on child development, highlighting the transformative role of play therapy in recovery.
At the Mossman Play Therapy Center, Kimberly provides trauma-informed therapy for children and families, supervision for clinicians seeking to deepen their expertise in play therapy, and mentorship for therapists establishing private practices across Massachusetts. Her approach integrates compassion, play, and evidence-based practices to foster healing and growth in children and their caregivers.
Beyond her clinical practice, Kimberly serves on the Board of the Child Loss Center, offering vital support to families who have experienced profound loss. She also holds the position of Massachusetts State Liaison for the New England Association for Play Therapy, where she advocates for and advances the professional practice of play therapy throughout the region. Her ongoing commitment to community well-being underscores her belief that healing begins with connection, compassion, and play.
