About
Madeline “Maddie” Leonard is a master’s-level clinician who works with children and teens. She earned her Master’s in Professional Counseling and a certificate in School-Based Mental Health from Carlow University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During her graduate studies, coursework and internship experiences introduced her to play therapy and sparked her passion for helping children express themselves through play.
Maddie began her counseling career supporting adults in a medication-assisted treatment program for substance use. She has since worked with children and teens from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, supporting those navigating community trauma, divorce, anxiety, depression, challenges related to neurodivergence, and substance use concerns.
Maddie believes in the healing power of a trusting therapeutic relationship, time in nature, and play. She incorporates play-based approaches and mindfulness techniques to help children and teens build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen social connections, and deepen their emotional awareness. She strives to create a welcoming space where each child feels understood, valued, and supported.
