About
Marisa Stewart is a master's level clinician who earned her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Merrimack College. She is passionate about helping children, adolescents, and families navigate life's challenges through compassionate, relationship-centered, and trauma-informed care.
Marisa believes that healing begins within a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. She strives to create a warm, accepting environment where children and teens feel understood, valued, and free to express themselves. By incorporating play, creativity, and emotional expression into therapy, she helps clients explore difficult experiences, build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and develop greater confidence in themselves.
Prior to becoming a therapist, Marisa gained extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and families in high-stress environments. These experiences strengthened her understanding of trauma, emotional regulation, crisis intervention, and the importance of meeting children where she is. She has also worked in a partial hospitalization program, facilitating therapeutic groups focused on emotion regulation, self-expression, interpersonal relationships, and healthy coping.
Marisa approaches each child with authenticity, curiosity, and empathy, recognizing that every child has unique strengths and their own path toward healing. She enjoys partnering with parents throughout the therapeutic process and values the important role caregivers play in supporting lasting change.
As part of the Mossman Play Therapy Center team, Marisa is receiving specialized training and supervision in play therapy and plans to pursue her Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT™) credential. She is committed to continuing her professional development so she can provide children and families with the highest quality, evidence-informed care.
